Moderately challenging 400k from Barrington with a few hills at the start. We head up to just near Woodstock before heading to Wisconsin and looping up through Milton and New Glarus. Once you get to New Glarus, you can take the Sugar River Trail if you don't mind a gravel/hard pack trail (the GPS takes the roads) to Brodhead. From there we head back but cross through Rockton and take a very short section of the Long Prairie Trail from Calendonia to Long Prairie. From there we head through Marengo (24 hour Shell) and back to Barrington.
This is an unsupported ride. Arrange a bail out plan if you are not totally confident about finishing. Lights and reflective gear are mandatory. Unlike many of our rides this year, we will all start from the same place at the same time (so that Michele can check). Please stay socially distant and park at the very extreme ends of the parking lot a couple spaces apart. Early in the AM there will be few around. Masks mandatory, etc.
This ride (unlike many others) is contingent upon somewhat decent weather. If the temperature plumments or we are going to be in a cold monsoon, the ride will get cancelled and there WILL be a $5 refund.
Great route!
Another great brevet route! Weather a bit challenging but great camaraderie made it fun!
Major congratulations to Lena on her first 400k in some epic weather. Light rain and 37 is a challenge for everyone. It's the mark of a great rider that they never despair and just keep smiling for all of it. Looking forward to riding with you again. My 3rd 400k on a tandem was really awesome. Thanks to Paul for keeping me on the road through a major injury.
